Blood pressure calculator
Type the two numbers from your cuff and see which range they fall in, and what to do next.
The ranges behind the answer
From the 2024 European guideline and the 2025 US guideline. A range is not a diagnosis.
Which matters more, systolic or diastolic?
Both count. A reading takes the higher range of its two numbers, so 118 over 88 is hypertension under the US guideline even though systolic pressure is normal. Systolic pressure often becomes a more important risk factor after age fifty.
Does my age change the ranges?
The categories shown here do not change with age, so there is no age field. A personal treatment target can be different, especially for older adults or people with other health conditions.
Why are the European and US ranges different?
Both read the same numbers, but the US guideline splits hypertension into two stages and starts stage 1 at 130 or 80. The European guideline calls that band elevated and starts hypertension at 135/85 at home.
